#30 New York Jets
Well, you knew the Jets were coming soon. In the fantasy world, this is an interesting team; not because you should draft of bunch of their players by any means, but they have a committee of 4 running backs?? Crowell, Powell, McGuire and Rawls…fantasy nightmare. McCown, Teddy B and Sam Darnold at QB. I don’t even know where to begin with this team but here we go as I attempt to find another five ‘relevant’ fantasy players on the damn Jets.
1) Robby Anderson – WR
This is pretty obvious (ignoring fact that he might be suspended a bit this season). Robby had a breakout season for the Jets and probably helped lead a bunch of fantasy teams to victory last season. He was top 20 last season at the position in targets, yards, touchdowns and end zone targets. With the suspension looming, his draft appeal is shaky but when on the field, have to start him.
Fantasy Prediction: Late Round Draft Pick; stash for post-suspension.
2) Isaiah Crowell – RB
I am a fan of Mr. Crowell. He had three solid seasons in Cleveland where he finished top 25 in yards every season. Problem: he will be sharing carries with Bilal Powell and giving up some third down usage to Elijah McGuire. From Crowell’s perspective, and any other RB on the Jets for that matter, IMO, is not starter worthy in a standard 12 team league. Best bet is to hang on to one of them and see what plays out.
Fantasy Prediction: Bench; potential Flex start.
3) Terrelle Pryor Sr. – WR
Besides my personal vendetta against Pryor for drafting him in two leagues last year and starting him most weeks because I am a stubborn asshole, he should win the #2 WR role for the Jets. You have to hope you get Browns Pryor and not Redkins Pryor…as hard enough as that is to say. He’s a freak athlete and we all know what he can be – the biggest question, besides who is throwing to him, is which Pryor will you get?
Fantasy Prediction: Bench; Late Round Roster Filler
4) McCown, Teddy, Darnold - QB
The same analysis would be say for all three of these guys. McCown is going to start Week 1. He’s 38 years old, so it’s very unlikely that he plays a full season. Reports are saying that Teddy is looking pretty good as well. Will he play? We shall see. Now, Sam Darnold. He was the third overall pick and has all the hype in the world. It’s a good bet that he will play before Teddy does but is likely he will spend most of the time learning the ropes.
Fantasy Prediction: McCown Back Up QB2; none of them are draft worthy.
5) Jets D -
First relevant defense sighting! That either means their defense is really good or the team stinks! In this case, the team stinks! With that said, I would say that the Jets Defense should be an OK play. They get to play Miami and Buffalo twice a year…could be worse. They have decent playmakers on that defense in Jamal Adams, Darron Lee, and Leonard Williams.
Fantasy Prediction: Situational start.
Final note: Just stay away from this team in your drafts.
