Adrian Peterson: Fantasy Football Outlook

The Washington Redskins have signed the former Vikings, Saints and Cardinals running back after losing their star rookie back, Derrius Guice for the season.

Does this mean that you need to draft Adrian Peterson now?

Absolutely not.

Do not draft any Washington backs besides Chris Thompson.

You have to remember that this is not the Minnesota Viking Adrian Peterson. He is going to share a backfield and lose a TON of touches once Chris Thompson returns in November. Perine and Fat Rob both averaged less than 3.5 YPC last season.  Thompson will own 3rd down so, you basically have 3 backs battling for 2 downs, not good.

I predict this situation to be a lot like the Jamaal Charles Denver Bronco project. Older back, sharing with two decent (at best) backs. Granted the do have a solid offensive line with Trent Williams, Brandon Scherff and Morgan Moses, I wouldn't even expect RB3 stat from the future HOF.  He may have a big game or two like he did in Arizona, but that home-run style player is not someone that you should draft when you can grab a young guy late that has some potential upside.
